Lee launches cancer partnership
Posted 2nd Sep 2010 @ 10.23 by GenSTEPS

Lee Latchford Evans has appeared at the launch of an honourable three year partnership between Boots the Chemists and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Lee Latchford Evans and a group of Boots staff launch the three year partnership between Boots UK and Macmillan Cancer Support outside the flagship Boots store in Oxford Street, London

The partnership aims to improve the availability of cancer care and advice, by training healthcare staff in Boots' 2,500 stores and pharmacies.

Boots have already demonstrated their committment to cancer care, by offering cancer treating medicines to people with prescriptions at the trade cost, rather than making a profit on the medicines which often cost thousands of pounds.

290,000 in the UK are diagnosed with cancer every year. Boots colleagues have pledged to walk a mile each with the fundraising campaign 'Miles for Macmillan', to raise awareness of the new partnership.

Of all the charitable causes to be involved in, this is one which could genuinely touch the lives of every single one of us. Thank you Boots, Macmillan Cancer Support, and thank you Lee.

Lee is in "Men's Fitness Magazine" and "attitude Magazine" this week, and in "loveit!" magazine next week.

This is the perfect way to start a week at GenSTEPS HQ - a lovely e-mail of Lee's new body!

Lee Latchford Evans

From the press release:

Can you believe this! From Popstar to ripped Fitness Star! Lee Latchford Evans has certainly been looking after himself.

Yes you heard right the same Lee Latchford Evans of former pop band Steps. Forget the singing and dancing it looks like Lee just stepped out of an action movie in these HOT new photos taken to mark the collaboration between the Hunk and USN 'Ultimate Sports Nutrition

I think the appropriate term is "OMFG".

Well done Lee!

Lee Latchford Evans attended St James Palace last week for a charity reception for The Outward Bound Trust. HRH The Duke of York congratulated Lee for raising over £1000 by running the London Marathon

Lee said "I finsihed the marathon in 4 1/2 hours with several injuries so I am pleased with my time but next year I want to aim for 4 hours. I really wanted to raise more cash for the charity so intend to put more time into it over the next year and do the marathon again for them next year. It is a huge pleasure to support The Outward Bound Trust".

Lee's shirt is to be auctioned by the charity and the winner will have the opportunity to collect the signed shirt from Lee personally at a hotel in London with a photo opportunity and afternoon tea! We'll let you know about the auction as soon as we know more.

Lee says, "This charity takes children who have few social community or communication skills, and in only a few days teaches them basic survival skills and more importantly how to work in teams, have confidence in themselves, and more respect for the individual, friends and peers."

You can sponsor Lee for his training through his sponsor page, and Lee is also running a competition for people who sponsor his run!*

We've sent Lee a donation of £10 - and you should all do the same! We wish Lee the best of luck with his run.

*Please note, this competition is not run by Generation STEPS.

Lisa Scott-Lee

It's great to hear Lisa featured on a CD once again, and for such a great cause.

As the soundtrack to Cancer Research's "Race for life" event, Lisa sings alongside pop chums Liz McClarnon, Kym Marsh and many others in a feel-good cover version of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'.

It's a great reminder of why we love Lisa's voice, which is so well suited to pop and dance tracks - a lovely little vocal from Lisa in this one - check it out;

The single is out on the 26th April in UK Tesco stores or online. For more information about Cancer Research UK check out the Race For Life website.

Put the champagne down
Posted 26th Dec 2009 @ 20.06 by GenSTEPS

We hope you're enjoying the Christmas festivities. Opened all your presents and eaten too much food? Settling down in front of the TV with a mince pie? Well STOP IT RIGHT NOW THERE IS MOURNING TO BE DONE.

We are of course reminding you that it's eight years (EIGHT!) since the STEPS split on Boxing Day 2001. How time flies, and it doesn't seem like two minutes since we were excitedly clutching our copy of STEPS Gold, and then sobbing over it just a day later.

Here's to totally spoiling Christmas 2001, and many more thereafter. Well done STEPS. Ok you can get back on the Champers now.

Lisa's little Star

We're totes behind the times here - there aren't enough days of the week to do everything! - but Lisa's been snapped with her new daughter Star Lily, who she gave birth to back in September.

Lovely stuff. :)

Lisa Scott-Lee is pregnant and proud! After giving birth to baby Jaden 18 months ago, Lisa quickly shed the pounds and returned back to her slender self. But now she's bared all for Closer magazine, recreating Demi Moore's iconic 1991 Vanity Fair cover.

Speaking about her new figure, Scott-Lee said: "Being pregnant is such a natural thing, it's so liberating to show off my bump. I even feel sexy! I'll keep these photos to remind me of such a momentous time."

She added: "It's like I've just had a boob job. They keep getting bigger. When I breastfed Jaden they went up to a DD, so I'm hoping for that this time round!"

We wish Lisa every happiness with her pregnancy.
